Are you someone who loves to enter giveaways? As you might know we run plenty of giveaways. Some for small things such as nail polishing, while other are for cash up to $1000. Do you enter those? Is there a secret to entering giveaways? I would have to say no, it’s the luck of the draw.
I wanted to talk about giveaways and sweepstakes, and online competitions that are ran by website, brands and businesses. I have had plenty of people ask me if they are scams. If you would have asked me this question two years ago I would have said yes. Something I have learned from being involved in these, is that many of them are totally legit. But how do you know?
Here are a few things to think about before entering a giveaway.
Am I providing this brand, company or website with too much information? Typically you’re only going to need your name email address, and sometimes your address and phone number. Anything more than that is too much information.
Does it feel right?
I’m a firm believer in gut feelings. If it doesn’t feel right, just stay away from it.
Who’s putting the contest on?
Sure you can visit Big Giveaway for online competitions, but if you’re not familiar with the website you might take some extra time and do your research. You can always visit places online and learn more about the company, and often whether or not people feel they are scams.
If you’re someone who enters giveaways, just be careful not to give out to much information. There is no reason you should have to provide anyone with your social security number or bank account number to enter a contact. Have fun and be safe out there.
